Hi, I am packaging boinc for Arch Linux, and recently I frequently got e-mails asking about BOINC 7.4. Currently the download_all page [1] still recommends 7.2.42 for Linux x86/x64. I want to know if BOINC 7.4 will be recommended for Linux any time soon, or if there are any critical issues to prevent so? Thanks a lot! [1] https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php |

I've been building Boinc 7.4.x on my Ubuntu 14.04 host frequently and reporting any Bugs I find, the Bugs I've been finding are mostly Boinc Manager/WxWidgets 3.0.x Bugs, the devs have been fixing them as I report them, Boinc 7.4.41 is already quite good, although there is one Bug fix, and one feature improvement/Bug fix that hasn't been applied to the 7.4 head yet, only trunk: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/gitweb/?p=boinc-v2.git;a=commit;h=4094edd1805b4dd8fcba1dec5d1818698d54d168 MGR: Work around an apparent bug in wxWidgets 3.0 on Linux which drew blank lines at the top and failed to draw the bottom items. This could happen if the list was scrolled near the bottom and the user selected "Show active tasks." http://boinc.berkeley.edu/gitweb/?p=boinc-v2.git;a=commit;h=2ce6da11a5a9f47c4174a6ab0be4a821b77ec5d3 MGR: work around a Linux bug in wxWidgets which prevents bringing the main window forward on top of Event Log (or any modeless dialog.) http://boinc.berkeley.edu/gitweb/?p=boinc-v2.git;a=commit;h=2ce6da11a5a9f47c4174a6ab0be4a821b77ec5d3 MGR: fix a bug in my last commit (e6607a6) in Linux when a modal dialog is open which prevented bringing bringing the modal dialog with the main window forward on top of Event Log. (Linux allows the Event Log to be brought forward and made active even if we have a modal dialog displayed (associated with our main frame.) Claggy |
