Even though I have seen on many project-specific sites that a GTX 780 Ti GPU can and has been used with the project, BOINC refuses to detect my GTX 780 Ti. Can anyone help?

A GTX 780 Ti card can only crunch for BOINC if it's plugged into a computer.

There you go. BOINC can't detect or use any GPU in that mode.

"Running as a daemon" equates to the 'service mode' or 'Protected Application Execution' mode listed as an option during installation.

To change that, you'll have to uninstall BOINC (less drastic than it sounds, user settings and work in progress are preserved), and re-run the installer, this time making sure that PAE is unchecked (you have to enter the 'Advanced' page to unlock the checkboxes).

Make sure you re-install using the same Data directory: D:\ProgramData\BOINC

Work should be continued from where you left off, but this time with added GPU support when running under your personal logon account.

This being your problem. You installed BOINC as a service, and by doing so, BOINC won't be able to detect any GPUs to work with.

Can be fixed by uninstalling BOINC, then reinstalling it, then third screen in the installer clicking Advanced, next screen unchecking "Service Install" and then continuing the installation.



When you install BOINC as a service, it will run in a different session than the videocard drivers do, thereby making it impossible for BOINC to detect the GPU. This isn't something that BOINC can fix, by the way.

It hasn't been that since the recommended release of BOINC 7.0, it's been Service Install since that time. Best forget the old style wording and learn to use the new phrases. :-)
