hello there,

this may be a silly question. I have a rig with Ubuntu and two spare discrete gpu cards (AMD HD 5450 pcie and Nvidia gt 430 PLAIN-PCI)

Now here's the thing I wanna get them all to work together so I can not have to feel guilty for having a spare gpu lying around thats not doing SCIENCE.

oddly enough, I have been able to install ubuntu with both cards plugged in... but only wile using the X.org drivers. As soon as I install one or both flavors of drivers then it gets a bit unstable and does that "low graphics mode"-thingy. (as you can tell, I am new to linux)

is there any way I could disable one of the cards and use it only for crunching things (preferably the AMD card)? - I know this sounds ridiculous, but hey, SCIENCE

Also, I realize this may not be completely relevant to boinc since its more hardware/ubuntu based question. if there is another forum I could go to that anyone knows of to get better advice on this then I'd love to know.

Thanks

If I'm deciphering the search results right, it's not going to be easy. You might have better luck at Ubuntu Forums or AskUbuntu.
