Hi. After BOINC install was set Graphics options on High Performance to BOINC Manager (boincmgr.exe). That is fine. But if GPU calculation is stoped (because computer using), then Graphics chip still running. That is no bug, because High Performance is set to BOINC Manager, but more better is set this performance to separately every calc application and after suspend calculation suspend graphics chip too. What do you thing? I have dynamic switch graphics system on my laptop (Intel HD Graphics 4000 and AMD Radeon HD 8600M) and Windows 7 64bit. Thank you. |

As you've noticed, plenty of people read your post, but no one answered. This is mainly because we haven't got a clue what you're trying to tell us or ask. E.g. how do you set the Graphics options on High Performance to BOINC Manager? What do you mean by But if GPU calculation is stoped (because computer using), then Graphics chip still running.; where do you check this? That is no bug, because High Performance is set to BOINC Manager, but more better is set this performance to separately every calc application and after suspend calculation suspend graphics chip too. I can't make heads or tails from this. Care to explain better? Which BOINC version are you using? Which projects are you running? What CPU do you have? |

I have laptop HP Pavilion 15-e036sc with two graphics. If is some app set to high performance then second graphics is active (AMD Radeon HD 8600M Series). Otherwise in Low Performance is active first graphics (Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000) included in procesor (Intel® Core™ i3-3110M). I can't active graphics manualy, only i can set any app to low performance mode or high performance mode. Others things doing drivers. Games are set to high performance mode automatic, others app like Microsoft Word, Notepad are set to low performance mode. I can change it but my change haven't effect on app like notepad. Drivers probably know that notepad needn't high performance. I installed 3DMark06 and tryied both options for performance settings. It was effect and i measured difference result for high and low manual performance settings. If Radeon graphic is on then fan is on. Otherwise fan is off. If i run Boinc, fan is noisy even i don't compute project with graphics or if i turn off compute on GPU manualy through Boinc manager. Which graphics is run i find out through "TechPowerUp GPU-Z". Boinc 7.0.64 (x64) Projects: Milkyway@Home (GPU) EDGeS@Home Einstein@Home (GPU) Leiden Classical yoyo@home Windows 7 x64 I have all drivers ok a every thing is functional on my PC. I have not others problems. Thank you. Dominik |

Boinc 7.2.x introduces the following changeset: client: optionally detect GPUs via a child process, for dual_GPU laptops. Claggy |
