I want to upgrade my video card but have work in progress. If I shut down my system (and install a different video card) will the work already completed be lost or deleted? I presently have two seti-at-home work units in progress. Will BOINC recognize the new card and resume all work in progress with no loss of time or data? |

providing you're not changing manufacturers (ie ATI -> ATI or NV -> NV) and excluding any driver issues BOINC shouldn't have any problems. CIC1=CC=C(C2=N[C@@H](CC(OC(C)(C)C)=O)C3=NN=C(C)N3C4=C2C(C)=C(C)S4)C=C1 |

AFAIK, pre-Fermi SETI applications will not run successfully on Fermi cards. So, you should set No New Tasks and finish those work units before doing the change if it's such a trans-platform one. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) |

In this case the proposed change is from a standard VGA adapter (Intel 82915Gx) to an NVIDIA/ZOTAC ION video card (512MB). It appears a change of this nature in midstream is not a good idea. I will hold up until the present work units are finished. Thanks to all for your help with this issue. |

If the change is from a GPU that isn't supported by Boinc to one that is, then there is no problem (as you won't have been crunching tasks on your GPU before), so just go ahead. Claggy |
