Yesterday BOINC stopped running on my computer. I tried to reinstall it, and all that happens is that the icon in the Dock bounces and stops after a few seconds. What can I do to run BOINC again? |

Please give a little more information, like BOINC version, any error messages you get, what happens if you install to another directory, etc. |

Please give a little more information, like BOINC version, any error messages you get, what happens if you install to another directory, etc. It's the last recommended version (5.10.20) and when I try to run it I get in the console the message "Using wxWidgets 2.3.6". |

OK, since I'm not that well versed on the Mac, I asked one of the (very busy) developers what questions I should ask you. What exactly do you mean by "BOINC stopped running"? The console message "Using wxWidgets 2.3.6" is normal. This is different from the Messages window in the Manager. If the Manager never comes up, an archive of these messages can be found in the file "/Library/BOINC Data/stdoutdae.txt". Additional info may be found in the same directory in files stderrdae.txt, stderrgui.txt and stdoutgui.txt. If the Manager simply doesn't appear, you can use the Mac utility "/Applications/Utilities/Activity Monitor" and see if you can find BOINCManager, boinc (the client) or any of the project applications listed as running. So there goes, please post back more information. |

OK, since I'm not that well versed on the Mac, I asked one of the (very busy) developers what questions I should ask you. I mean that I click BOINC icon and nothing happens, except the icon bouncing for a while. Also I checked Activity Monitor and I see BOINC Manager is there, but it doesn't use any CPU time. I found the files named stderrgui.txt and stdoutgui.txt but they are empty. |

Which projects were you attached to? Do you see a notion of boinc in the activity monitor? (not Boinc Manager, just boinc). Are there any other files/sub-directories of worth in your main BOINC directory? |
