Then a host have uploaded the last remaining result on the host from a particular project, it doesn’t report it until X time have past or the host decides that it want more work from that project. This is to minimize the number of connections to the project and a tradeoff is therefore made that makes the turnaround time for the result longer. If the project is set to No new work, it is less likely that any communication with that project is needed other then reporting the last results. Not reporting the last result immediately will then probably only delay the report, without any other gain. My suggestion is then: If the project is set to No new work, the last remaining result is then reported immediately. Along the sama line but more complicated: Suggestion2: Then a host have uploaded the last remaining result on the host from a particular project, BOINC then makes an estimation whether or not the host will ask the scheduler for more work before BOINC will report the result anyway. If no work is expected to be asked for, why not report the result immediately? |
