Hi, I've been running BOINC for quite some time, using client 5.8.11. I saw the newer version, 5.8.16, on the site today and tried to give it a spin. But the .msi keeps failing with non-descript errors, the kind that kick off the "Tell Microsoft about this problem" dialog box, followed by an "Internal Error 2755.1601" from the BOINC.msi file . I've tried uninstalling and repairing my existing install of 5.8.11 first, but both just result in a "Wizard was interrupted before BOINC could be completely installed" message. What to do? Does anybody have advice on how to correctly get my BOINC uninstalled/upgraded? My 5.8.11 seems to be working correctly, but I fear I will never be able to upgrade to any future release at this point. Thanks! Simon |

Try to reboot the computer first. Then try to uninstall BOINC through add/remove programs. And reinstall 5.8.11 I have reported your problem to the developers. To be honest, I don't know an immediate fix for it. Although, you could try to use the Windows installer Cleanup Utility to see if that fixes things. |

Thank you, Jord. Using the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility seems to have done the trick; I was able to install 5.8.16. Everything is back to normal again...whatever that means. Thanks again for everybody's help. Simon |
