Hi, I have just installed BOINC on my computer. It works well. Then when I go in the GUI and add the project, it seems to work, but the clients just sits there and no work is done. Here is what I get in the messages:

2007-06-01 23:15:55||Fetching configuration file from http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/get_project_config.php

And then it sits there forever. The file it's trying to access (get_project_config.php) displays fine in my browser when I copy-paste the URL. OS is Debian Etch stable. I have installed the "ia32-libs" package, if that's important. Boinc is installed from the debian packaged version.

G'day Patrick

There's a slight problem with SETI - although it provides a 64bit app it doesn't support the x86_64-pc-linux-gnu platform - which I suspect is your problem. You should be able to confirm this by attaching to one of the other projects in this list.

I found the only way to get 64bit work from SETI was to use one of Simon's Optimised App's
CIC1=CC=C(C2=N[C@@H](CC(OC(C)(C)C)=O)C3=NN=C(C)N3C4=C2C(C)=C(C)S4)C=C1

I tried with rosetta, same result... I'm going to uninstall the official debian package and try the version from the official boinc website.

Ok i can see the problem here as its the same with Kubuntu 64 bit. Whoever compiled BOINC didn't set a platform name under 64 bit at all its just a space. Simple solution is replace the boinc_client file in /usr/bin with one from the BOINC website (must rename from boinc to boinc_client) and all your problems will go away.
