I'm using Boinc Version 5.8.16 on Windows XP w/SP2. Earlier today, I had suspended all activity via the Boinc menu and waited about 3 minutes before exiting. According to Boinc all projects had suspended/stopped. When I checked Windows task manager the projects were still running and had to kill them off one by one causing them all to crash with unrecoverable errors when I restarted Boinc later on. I have never had this happen with previous versions of Boinc. What are the chances of this happening again when I have to shut down Boinc? |

I've seen it happen a few times, and I usually fix it by rebooting (I think it sends a shutdown request to the orphan task rather than the kill message sent by Task Manager). |
