I've set up BOINC to run as a service on an iMac; it's been crunching away quite happily for SETI@home and Einstein@home. I'm considering installing an optimized S@h app but, embarassingly enough, I recently realized I don't know how to stop the client properly so it won't get confused by the sudden appearance of an app_info file. I presume there are commands one can send it from the Terminal to stop & start the service; could someone please point me towards some info on this?

You could try the Team MacNN web site.

With help from Dogbytes: Hard Drive>Library>Documentation>Services

(That might be a Help file though).

All I seem to have in there is Apache stuff. But the tip you linked to your other message looks promising -- thanks. And to Les as well; I should have thought of Team MacNN.

I have the same problem. I've been looking around though.
Here's something you might want to try,
check if a folder 'boinc' is located in this directory: hd > library > StartupItems

Let me know if you found something.
