Basically anything running as a service does not have full access to the "normal" GPU drivers, thus it is not BOINC that is preventing the use of the GPU but the operating system. ID: 85547 ·

This provides increased protection from faulty applications, and on Windows, it will prevent the use of applications that use the graphics chip (GPU)." ID: 85548 ·
