Hi, I have recently installed Kubuntu 16.04 on my amd (Firepro W2100) pc. I used same hardware at Boinc Einstein@home opencl-ati tasks without any problem(Fedora 22). Also I have installed amdgpu-pro drivers to gain opencl support. Everything(X apps) works without problem. But I am suffering computation error at opencl-ati(Einstein@Home's Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 on GPUs 1.17) tasks. I have also installed amd APP Sdk but nothing changed(I guess It doesn't necessary). What should I do to finish opencl-ati tasks without problems. Thanks in advance. |

Best post this at the Einstein forums, as BOINC by itself doesn't do any science, thus doesn't put any strain on your hardware. That's all down to the project science applications. And when you post at their forums, people helping there can look into your hardware (if not hidden) and any possible error messages you have. If you do want to get help through here, please follow the basic rules of information. |

Hi, I guess I found where the problem. When I run clinfo on my Kubuntu installed computer. It says: Number of platforms: 1 It says I have OpenCL 2.0 AMD-APP (2236.5) card but my card only supports OpenCL 1.2. How can I fix that... Thanks in advance |

OpenCL versions is set in the hardware, so if you truly want to fix it you need a better GPU that is OpenCL 2.0 compliant. However, no project that I know of requires OpenCL 2.0 applications. Also, what it says here is that the drivers are OpenCL 2.0 compatible, but they will easily work on lower complaint hardware. Backwards compatibility and such. You can compare this to DirectX in Windows, where newer DX versions can be installed, yet older games run without problems on that. |
