Have given norton firewall allow always access to the program. I get through to creating an account then..... Fail...????

If you can please post the content of the Boinc Manager Message tab.
Have you created an account at the project website?
What OS are you using?
Explain the exact procedure your following.
Check BOINC miniFAQ for attachment procedure.
