i was not getting any work done, for some reason it kept saying inthe 'messages' section, that i didnt have enough memory:

Wed Jun 7 19:32:08 2006|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request to http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi
Wed Jun 7 19:32:08 2006|SETI@home|Reason: Requested by user
Wed Jun 7 19:32:08 2006|SETI@home|Requesting 17280 seconds of new work
Wed Jun 7 19:32:13 2006|SETI@home|Scheduler request succeeded
Wed Jun 7 19:32:13 2006|SETI@home|Message from server: No work sent
Wed Jun 7 19:32:13 2006|SETI@home|Message from server: (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)
Wed Jun 7 19:32:13 2006|SETI@home|Message from server: No disk space (YOU must free 1497.4 MB before BOINC gets space). Review preferences for maximum disk space used.

...even though i had a heck of a lot more than 1497.4 free and jsut to be sure, cleared off an additional 12 Gb, and restarted the computer, just to be sure. still no go, same error message... go figure...

Heres what fixed it:

I finally wandered into my "general preferences" for any project website (Boinc global prefs) and found my use no more than x disk space a set to 1.0 Gb. so it set it to 5 gb and now it works. (climateprediction was taking up 2.3gb so that migth have been the problem).

anyway, for what its worth, i think this (1.0 Gb) is/was the default so i could see a lot of other folkies having this same problem, especially since the error is so misleading...

anyway, please reply to this post if you this post helps you out of a similar predicament, fwiw, im wondering if people even try to request help from this forum since you cant use any search tools to find answers in these threads, it kind of seems like calling into the empty vacuum of space.

Last time I looked, default was 100 gig, and most questions can be answered by looking in the WIKI......

And there is a "Do a keyword search of messages." at the bottom of the main "BOINC message boards" page.
