I just looked in the messages portion of my Boinc and it has the following two messages: 5/13/06 10:33:52 Computer is overcommitted 5/13/06 10:33:52 Nearly overcommitted. Is there something wrong? Should I worry about this? _____________________ Peter A. |

I just looked in the messages portion of my Boinc and it has the following two messages: Probably not. If your cache is on the large side (connect time in general preference control this), or your computer is not available to crunch as much as it usually does and/or attached several projects especially with Climateprediction (very long WU) in the mix, it is not uncommon for Boinc to feel it is overcommitted. This usually means that one of the projects may be in danger of not reporting work on time if the normal switching round robin between project continues and more work is downloaded. Boinc then changes to earliest deadline mode. It will temporarily override your preference switch time and resource share to concentrate on finishing WU that need to be reported first. It also wont download new work until things are back to normal. When things return to normal Boinc will then repay the projects that have been short changed and give them extra crunch time so that your the resource share is honored. You can get detailed information in the BOINC Wiki sections on Computer is overcommitted and Earliest Deadline First Boinc V 7.4.36 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB NVidia 470 |
