PrimeGrid is back up.

Please let us know on the PrimeGrid forums or in our chatroom if there's any problem. (I know the charts on the server status page aren't working yet. Everything else should be working.)

Please note that the IP address of the server changed. Although the new DNS entry should have propagated by now, some systems and programs don't see the new address. You may need to restart boinc or your web browser, reboot your computer, or run "ipconfig /flushdns" (or the equivalent) to access the new PrimeGrid server.

I've flushed my DNS, restarted BOINC, and restarted my machines. I'm still not connecting to anything...

Looked at the message in chrome...I'm getting a ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED message.

Okay, this is definitely weird. When I just load Primegrid in a tab on its own, it won't load. Even after I flushed the (Google) DNS.
Unable to connect

Pale Moon can't establish a connection to the server at www.primegrid.com
Do I now open a second tab and then reload the tab Primegrid is in, it loads.

I can't connect using Internet Explorer (11) either:
This page can’t be displayed

•Make sure the web address http://www.primegrid.com is correct.
•Look for the page with your search engine.
•Refresh the page in a few minutes.
Here loading a second tab doesn't help.

Tried side-stepping my ISP by utilizing my cellular, and I get this message:

"502: Bad Gateway - Response Error, a bad response was received from another proxy server or the destination origin server"

Presrvd, or anyone else still not able to access www.primegrid.com
According to their official chat page they said it could take up to 24 hours (or longer based on my previous experiences with other IP address changes) for www.primegrid.com to resolve (be available) in all DNS [Domain Name System] SERVERS WORLDWIDE.

If you do not want to wait, you can modify/edit the host file (using a PLAIN TEXT EDITOR) on your computer(s) by adding the singe line:
23.253.170.196 www.primegrid.com
saving it and restarting your computer(s). But this step is ONLY for those that KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!

23.253.170.196 www.primegrid.com

Good warning and all, but as I said I use the Google DNS, and could ping the site at the time of my troubles above. It would return the IP address you state here. But my browsers would refuse to go to the site. That fixed itself by now.

Sure enough, modifying the hosts file did the trick. I'll also reiterate what Ageless has said, modifying the hosts file is definitely for those who know what they're doing, so proceed with caution. Thanks!

Yeah, it's luck of the draw as to whether the other methods will work, but the definite way to get around waiting for the DNS change is to use the HOST file. That will always work -- but you have to remember to remove the entry in a day.

It appears that QCN is now extinct.

No funding, Carl has gone, and I mentioned this on the board. A few hours later, it all disappeared. I guess that someone from the project team was reading the posts after all. :)

As a back-up, I have re-activated QCNLive. Also, a link to USGS site for
earthquake reporting was saved. I don't know how effective or useful any
quake info., as reported by my JoyWarrier 24F8 USB sensor, will be to them.
However, as things stand, it's got to better than nothing.

Anyone else try this approach?

Collatz has been down for almost a week with this message. The Event Log says the feeder is not running. I hope Slicker has time for real life with all the problems Collatz keeps giving him.

Einstein @ Home was down for planned database maintenance today.

It's back up now, but they've changed their scheduler url. You may have to update the project several times (up to 10) before the new url is transferred, and you can report completed work or fetch new work. Else, wait several hours for BOINC to do this by itself.

Les, this is what Carl told me when I was inquiring about their funding issues on September 30th.

But QCN will roll along and hopefully get a little money next year for me to do basic support and maintenance, but I don't think I'll be doing anything major on the client or server end as far as new development. Everyone is basically moving on to their next jobs/projects.

I was asking him if he thought maybe BitcoinUtopia would be a valid option for trying to get funding for project development. As you can see, he didn't directly answer that question. However, I think it is safe to say that this project is just waiting to die at this point...

Edit: And this is what he said to me back in April..
I think it will hang on at least a year and probably two, but future development and "survival" depends on getting funding past that.
