I have recently had to replace the mobo in one of my rigs due to a fault. I have the old installation on a spare HDD along with the old system's OS etc. I didn't have any work either in the queues or running at the time the mobo died, as I had already emptied that in order to upgrade from XP to Win 7. All I want to do is migrate the information over that holds the project state, so I can attach to all the projects that the old setup was attached to in one hit... What file(s) am I looking for and where do I put them. The XP installation was installed as a service with un-privileged BOINC account, as is the current install. Not attempted to sign into anything on the new install yet, just bare software install... Will be monitoring this post, or lock_gareth at yahoo dot co dot uk for response. Thanks in advance for any assistance received. |

You're looking for the data directory, and then the account_*.xml files, possibly client_state.xml + client_state_prev.xml, and the \projects\ directory with all the subdirectories and files therein. Under XP this can be found at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\ Under Win7 this moves to C:\Programdata\BOINC\ In both cases this can be a hidden directory, so either make sure Windows Explorer can show hidden files and folders, or fill in the path directly into Windows Explorer and hit Enter. |

In like Flynn... Thx for the assistance... Took a bit of finding though... My installation happened to call it C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\BOINC\ |

Apparently that happens when a second Windows installation is made into the same partition that originally had some Documents and Settings folders from another installation. To avoid conflicts - even if one of the windows installations has since been got rid of - the Windows installer adds the *.WINDOWS part. |
