G'day all, I have been getting the above message for about 18 hours. Machine has mostly been idle during the period. Reboot machine, uninstall and reinstall BOINC has not cleared the issue. Win 7 64bit. Three other machines running OK. Could this be an ET virus attack? Help please, Mac |

Without a [exact] version, there's only guessing. Some have the oddity of not signaling the system is in use and always run the GPU and others have the inverse, always 'thinking' the system is in use and never starting the GPU [try setting in activity menu "Run GPU always" to see if it starts]. Fixes have been checked in, but don't ask me which version and if these fixes are being backported to a 7.0.6x release, since development really has moved on to the 7.1/7.2. At least I know WCG is not ready yet to accept 7.0.6x to be pushed out as recommended to its partners [colleges/corporations with many thousands of devices]. They're still tweaking to be sure this can be an LTS [Long term support] install. Coelum Non Animum Mutant, Qui Trans Mare Currunt |

Thank you kindly for your response. My version is 7.0.64(x64) and I am sad to say that I had the Computer Preferences set to "0 (run always)". I then changed this to 1 (minute) and it worked. So many thanks for setting me on the right track. I am back in business. Cheers, Mac |

UPDATE It seems as though I can not use the 0(Run Always) option any more. As soon as I switch the Computer Options to that setting the original problem recurs. My GPU is a GTX680 if that is of interest. Mac |

Rob meant Activity menu->GPU run always, which is the way to set it. Not through Tools->Computing Preferences->Only after computer has been idle for X minutes. The option here to use GPU (always) is to check "Use GPU while computer is in use". |
