I'm not doing anything different. Somedays it works fine, other days when I open it up, nothing happens. Nothing even shows up in Projects, Work, Messages, anywhere. Can't get more work. Won't connect to the host website. And this happens a lot! I liked SETI so much better. It actually worked. WHAT IS UP??

BOINC is in 2 parts. Those are the symptoms of the gui not being able to 'talk' to the client/worker/daemon.
If they CAN talk, it will say: "Connected to localclient" in the bottom right corner of the gui.

If it says something else, click on "Select computer" in menu/File.
Then click: "OK" with NOTHING in either entry in the popup.

When the problems occur does it say "connected to localhost", or "disconnected" on the very bottom bar of the boinc manager???

It says it's disconnected. But it's not an internet problem...

Exactly. It's just that the gui is disconnected from the worker.
Did you try: "select computer, etc, as I posted before?

I'm having the same problem. Everything was working correctly this morning. I had to reboot, and now nothing. I put "localhost" in for Host Name, and I get an error "BONIC Manager is not able to connect to a BONIC client."

Also, I tried to login to the message board with my email and password, and it didn't know me. And, it also didn't recognize my Account ID.

Yes, but no help. Here's what it is saying right now:
BOINC Manager - Connection Failed.
BOINC Manager is not able to connect to a BOINC client. Would you like to try to connect again?
I can keep clicking yes, but it won't help. I also tried it using "local host" in the host name, but that doesn't work either.
This seems to happen weekly. Any thoughts?

I'm guessing you've done a MS update recently. Try a Cold boot (not just restart). Failing that you might download/install a 5.4.x version of boinc. This will use a different port from 5.2.13 which MS has decided to steal from boinc, thus stopping the intercommunication between the daemon and the manager.

Same problem here, disconnected after running 5.2.8 for many months. Updated to 5.2.13, no improvement. Can't find 5.4.x. Suggestions?

Thanks
