Einstein has an interesting technology structure. Either the web server is at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and the database is in Hanover, Germany, or the other way round. Everything has to go one way or the other over the private line linking the two sites. Sometimes it glitches. |

Einstein has an interesting technology structure. Either the web server is at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and the database is in Hanover, Germany, or the other way round. Everything has to go one way or the other over the private line linking the two sites. Sometimes it glitches. The University of Wisconsin closed out their OLD '.edu' Websites for Einstein Project LONG ago. https://einsteinathome.org/community/forum/16 The above Link, (a '.org' Site), now goes to the Einstein Cafe. All the Einstein pages NOW are '.org'. However; as you state, the DB and Science part of the Project are ALL in Germany. I haven't had issues, myself, getting into the Einstein Forums. However; quite some time ago, when the change from the '.edu' Base of things was made to '.org' and even the BOINC Project Links were changed to what they are now, I initially had problems keeping BOINC happy when trying to Upload or Download Units. The last time I ran Einstein from my System - "Exeter", a Win XP Pro SP-2 x64 System, things seemed to run pretty smoothly. However; that was in late 2018. Exeter has LONG since been retired. (I still have her, but she's unplugged, and the GTX-760 has been pulled and put to storage.) TL Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos Pluto is still a planet |

All the Einstein pages NOW are '.org'.Which doesn't mean much, it's the IP address that resolves from the DNS address that makes where they run from. The DNS for einsteinathome.org resolves to: NetRange: 129.89.0.0 - 129.89.255.255You can recheck that at https://centralops.net/co/ |

which is fine and dandy for the web pages, the project servers however are at einstein.phys.uwm.edu |

We all should be thankful for yesterday's outage. It may be the last one of those that we get to appreciate. RIP the Tuesday outages, outrages, and of course the grand mal outrages. |

If Beta is shut down for good, it would be good if they changed the message on the main page from: "SETI@home Beta is temporarily shut down for maintenance." To: "SETI@home Beta is shut down until further notice.", or something like that. |

This is most unusual on a Sat/ evening. SETI@home is temporarily shut down for maintenance. Please try again later. |

I do believe that certain fora over at Seti have just had a stench removed. The fresher air is rather nice. I don't know how long until the filters clog up again. |

.It seems Dull has been on sabbatical for a while. I missed, the food fight he was involved in was over the top IMO, notice no humble involved. |

Second thought as Seti crunching is winding down, 2 of our best trolls have decided to go down in flames? |

.It seems Dull has been on sabbatical for a while. Only saw part of it, by the time I looked things had already been locked and the "O" word described it. |

So no one posting about the stellar price of US oil then, ey? What did it end at, -$35 per barrel? Edit: now back up to -$16.- per barrel: https://tradingeconomics.com/commodity/crude-oil |

That was on the news down here this morning, too. I was wondering how it worked: Do you give the oil companies a tin of old sump oil and they give you money for it? The world has become a strange place. And it was bad enough before. |
