Oh, Jord, you aren't like the Seti Mod crew and care how many posts a thread has do you, as I see we are getting close to 1,000.

Since the community preferences allow for the user to set up pages with N amount of messages per page, I don't really see the need to change over to a new thread. I've set it to 200 per page.

And I wonder what poster 1,000 in this thread will win. Or should that be poster 1,001? ;-)

Well that's a pretty cool site, thanks.

Here is what I received as an answer from it:

Setiathome.berkeley.edu is DOWN
It is not just you. The server is not responding...

Thought so Jord. @1001.

Oh looks like the Golden Bears just lost to the Bruins. Eric will not be a happy camper.

Apparently I had a couple of beers too much last night.

I was able to find two prime factors more than 4000 digits in size some two hours apart.

Not having the same success this evening.

Anyway, the first number, which was a repdigit factor (and not the initial, composite number) was probably some
4200-4300 digits.

The second factor became 4078 digits.

But doing the stupid thing of pasting a big number into Windows Calculator apparently hung the whole computer, needing a subsequent reboot. This is something that should not be attempted, or possibly there should be a fix for avoiding such mishaps when they occur.

Therefore I lost track of the first number after fortunately being able to report it first.

Getting back to it right now. I will post a new message when I find the number which became missing.

I set my "Display this many messages per page" to 10000. It seems to work fine & there is no way that could ever possibly go wrong for me.

A new account again for you Knut? If that's the case, you probably don't mind me telling the spammer-delete script about all your previous accounts, so these can be discontinued and deleted?

Looks like the project is down again. BOINC can't connect, and all I get from my web browser is:

[CyberGhost 5 Privacy Control] The socket connection to setiathome.berkeley.edu failed.
ErrorCode: 10060.
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 169.229.217.150:80

In fact you do make a point here, Ageless.

I guess you are not willing to merge my Seti@home accounts into one, showing all of you (or us) how good I really am.

2,3 million + 1,2 million + 1,1 million + 700,000 Seti@home credits.

Pluss a little bit more.

In case you haven't noticed Knut, this is not Seti@Home and no one here has that ability. Write a nice snail mail to the powers that be at Seti and enclose a big fat check, say enough to pay someone's salary for a year, and who knows, they might find it in their heart to do it.

Hi Dave,
Good for you, I can't access ANY of S@H, my completed WU are stalled in a backup.

I blame this outage entirely on S@H staff going to a football game.. this has happened before..
[edit]
ARRGHHHHHH, just noticed the DTG on your post:-)

Regards,
Cliff

Hi Chris,
If it was an electrical outage shouldn't the system simply have rebooted?

Regards,
Cliff

I am not an administrator at Seti, and although I have the administrator title here, that does not mean I have database access. Merging accounts is possible only by doing this manually in the database. As I understand you have several hundreds of accounts at Seti, do you really expect someone to gather them all up and merge them, just so you can go back and make several hundreds more?

I just gather that since you're so forgetful as to which account you used last week, that we can now get rid of sparky, finnenummer, pinkpanther and musicplayer, before you get confused again.

Well, at least with the site down, I don't have to worry that someone has posted correct answers to jumbled word and tool time and they're waiting for me to show up again to say they're right.

No idea, but I'm wandering through my hosts making sure they've started reporting again.
