Uploads usually do continue to work during outrages, unless there's a problem with the upload server. They must have moved that process to something else without updating the SSPs. Uploads were the first thing that came up at Beta, even before the web site did. signature |

Having now seen the list of new features in the latest Boinc, I still see no reason to upgrade from what I have. signature |

I see no reason to upgrade from 6.10.58. The place of fire and brimstone will freeze over before I upgrade from a perfectly working BOINC version. Hallelujah-another person who agrees with me on that :) |

Sounds just like something said under a different name elsewhere. Hallelujah-another person who agrees with me on that :) I felt that way for a long time, but I now have no regrets about going to whichever version I now have (the one immediately prior to this new one). signature |

I have to say that I find some of the head in the sand attitudes here surprising and quite Luddite. It is not unusual to fix undocumented bugs in new releases of software and I doubt that is any different at UCB. I have always found that each step change version is faster and more stable than the previous one. However it seems that we are surrounded by the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" brigade. mbrnbmgh merphsh plmngnnng *wave hands about vaguely above head* mnghmnggedud! *smile into sand* |

Well, at least the person who thought it funny to spread his cold, thanks. I haven't got the sniffles, but by whole jaw hurts on the left side (it feels like I have toothache in what's left over of my teeth and molars there, but I don't); I can hardly stoop without the pain exploding. One thank you though, I am not hungry, so perhaps I can now lose a pound. Well great, it's a jaw infection. Or more likely, an infection of the muscles and tendons around my jaw joint. Am on Claritromycin for a week. Which will mean I have a possibility of seeing Panda's again in the living room. Of the past 5 times I had these meds, 4 times I saw Panda's. 8-D But at least these work against bacterial inflammations. It'll just mean that for the next 2 days I won't be driving a car, due to getting accustomed to these medicines. Although, having had the dizzy spins due to the ear ache isn't something fun on the highway either. Not that I can drive the car, as the road builders have broken up part of the street, right in front of my parking spot, so I wonder if I can even actually leave. ;-) |

At least pandas aren't aggressive creatures so you should feel peace :) |

I find myself somewhere in between. New versions are generally good, but I always wait a bit of time (how much depends on the circumstances) before installing them, to see if the new version contains any new bugs that didn't turn up in Beta testing. A program I use to keep track of where trains are on some rail lines in the US and Canada has just encountered a problem, not with its own update (it hasn't had one in a couple of years) but with one of the latest round of Windows security updates. I guess we're waiting now to see if anyone else also has a problem with it, leading MS to issue a fix for the fix, or if the developer of the program will have to write a new version to get around the problem. Fortunately, I had not installed the Windows updates yet when I heard about this. signature |
