Australia's Home Affairs Minister has got it. Lots of events starting to be called off, including Sydney's Royal Easter Show. I wonder how sales of home brew kits are going. |

I wonder how sales of home brew kits are going. If they get short, the answer is to buy the ingredients separately. Though I do fruit wines and mead more than beer these days. Incidentally you can put said wines/mead in freezer to produce a liqueur strength product. (In UK at least just as illegal as using a still but for some reason a freezer looks a bit less suspicious in your kitchen than a still.) |

England (as distinct from Britain) is very strange. There has been no central decision to cancel anything, yet sporting events are dropping like flies - football went earlier today, and the Wales-Scotland rugby match has just gone. The only advice we're being given is to take a full duvet week if we get a sniffle, but don't tell anyone. Eh? They made coronavirus a notifiable disease earlier in the outbreak, but now we can stop notifying NHS 111? How are they going to know how bad the epidemic is, where the hotspots are, and when it's all over, if people can keep their infection secret? |

That's because NHS is at or over capacity. Same here with the RIVM who at the beginning said anyone could get themselves checked, but after a week they changed that to 'only if you have a high fever'. So we have 804 people officially infected, 10 dead (5 during the last day!). The infected value can probably be a tenfold because a lot of people have the mild version. ICUs are at or nearing capacity. We have a maximum of 1,000 beds in ICU in the whole country and yesterday they were at 850 beds filled. But not to worry said our government. Schools can stay open because children aren't infected. Yeah right. This is a virus that's picky and only goes to those above 21. Best virologists in the world. Jeeze. |

Local Faceache group is discussing this, petition to ask government to close schools linked to there. A lot of heat being generated but no new insights for myself at least. Those on either side of the argument calling others, "stupid" with no attempt to explain their point of view. And Cambridge is supposed to be a centre of excellence in education and developing ideas. No idea what discussions are like in the rest of the country! |

At least we're getting a whole new language out of this. Take any standalone word and stick corona in front of it and presto, new word. So we already have: coronavirus, coronabeds, coronacircus, coronameasures, coronacrisis, coronadeaths, coronacasualties, coronanews, coronainformation, coronapatients, coronaquarantine, #coronatired, coronatest, coronaprovince, coronacruise, coronahotel, coronavirologist, coronadepression, coronavacation, coronamasshysterics, coronahahahaha. |

Just looked at the server status at SETI: 83,817 seconds (23.2825 hours) behind and 14,806,565 Results returned and awaiting validation. How much longer before the database and or the project servers collapse? |

The panic hoards must stop ... It is not the end of the world. Just got back from my regular grocery shopping and saw the local stores have posted notification to shoppers that the store management has the right to limit quantity of ANY products in stores. One person in check out line had 5 gallons of milk! |

Spain is in lockdown. Spaniards will be ordered to stay at home except to buy food or medicines, go to the hospital, go to work or for other emergencies. All active soldiers in Spain as well as the National Police and Guardia Civil are reported to be on alert and ready to isolate the capital as soon as the State of Emergency is approved by the Cabinet. |

After Spain, France, Austria, Germany and Belgium, we in The Netherlands are now in partial lockdown. Our borders are still open, but schools, restaurants, café's, sport clubs, sex clubs, sauna's, swimming pools, fitness clubs etc. etc. are closing until the 6th of April. And while we're still allowed to move about freely, we're to stay away from people around us, by at least 1.5m. Gonna be fun in the supermarket cashier line. |

Come Outrage day many of us won't be able to go to the pub to make our libation sacrifice. This is beginning to suck big time. |

Come Outrage day many of us won't be able to go to the pub to make our libation sacrifice. This is beginning to suck big time. Several Governors and City/County officials here in the USA have mandated all bars and restaurants to close by tomorrow night. Lucky I have enough grain spirits and beer to ride this out at home if needed. |

All bars, pubs, etc. are ordered to close from today with no date to reopen here. So the sacrifice will need to be done in our homes. Thanks to a friendly early warning i made a good stock of beverages preparing for that. |

I believe the tomorrow was picked because otherwise massive quantities of green swill would be served. Perhaps for the first time in forever traffic accidents and DUI arrests will be down. I do feel sorry for my local pub, 600 lbs of corn beef is likely going to rot. |
