It's back. :-) The acrid stench of burnt hair and the dissonant sound of howling at the moon worked once again. Juan's efforts with cerveza are also appreciated. |

... who is the God of computing, anyway?Having consulted the oracles, I came up with Charles Babbage for hardware and Ada Lovelace for software. It's back. :-)And I'm glad my invocations worked :-) |

Who made the Altair??? Good question. I went looking and found this from 2010: Altair 8800 inventor Ed Roberts dies at 68 |

Due to the holiday will Tuesday's outage be affected? Certainly some some speculation is warranted. |

all depends if nobody trips on the power cord :) Is, "power cord" some new drug for people to trip on? I do struggle to keep up with the youth of today. |

I'm here to join the party. I'm bringing the little extras. The fruit slice garnishes, the little umbrellas, the salt and the sugar rimmed glasses, the bowls full of snacks, the tiny napkins with the seti logo leftover from the 20th anniversary party. I got a new machine to replace my pos that is doing seti now. I'm excited about the possibility of having a fast enough machine that I might actually have a reason to whine about running out of WUs. My current pos takes 8 days to do the allotted 100 WUs, so I've only run out once during that very long outage we had years ago. Hopefully I'll have the new-to-me machine up and running by next weeks outage. It is an imac (2014 version) versus the 2009 version I'm running now. |
