In reply to Jord's message of 5 Jun 2026: And that's on top of a half busted motherboard that has USB problems on its own.I'd suggest bite the bullet and replace it now (with something DDR4 based), or wait 3 years till prices become less insane. Unless the AI juggernaut collapses in a heap soon, forecasts are that DRAM, NAND, HDDs, CPUs, motherboards etc supplies will get worse (and continue to get even worse still) well into 2028 (if we're lucky). The mouse works, I just have to click multiple times. Can't select any text though. But then I have a working keyboard. I have a new motherboard, it's been laying here for slightly over a year. Trouble is, the one I have now is an Asrock (my fave brand), the replacement is a Gigabyte which is my nemesis, I always have problems with them. So hesitant to replace it and fix Windows (10). Maybe once I am completely out of my depression. Or maybe I'll just give up on the big case and plug in a small NUC or other Barebone system and add the present SSD and HDD in an enclosure. Wholly before that I want to try flashing the BIOS to a lower version, as now there's one on that allows a Ryzen 3900x CPU, whereas the present CPU in there is just a 2700x that doesn't need the BIOS that's on there. |

At least you've got what you need. The latest news on RAM prices- Lexar regional manager says that RAM prices are expected to double by the end of the year Grant Darwin NT. |

I've got a second set of 32GB DDR4 lying here, and I think I have a further 16GB DDR4 elsewhere in the flat. Also 16GB of DDR3. I'm rich. 😊 |

Yay, I fixed the left-click problem. But how, I don't know. As before it was fixed, it got even worse. To the point of not being able to use many programs. Especially those that required mouse or cursor navigation. So I installed Logitech Options and that must have fixed the mouse driver problem, but it locked me out of the mouse and cursor navigation. Uninstalled Logi Options and hey, I can select text again and navigating in Google Maps and Google Earth works again. Although I do have to give credit to Google Gemini as I just asked it how to fix the mouse glitch and we went from there for half an hour. I now know I urgently need a new motherboard, or the barebones system, as my present motherboard's south bridge is causing all the problems. Gemini did give me a script to rescan the USB ports after Windows startup, so I put it as a scheduled task in Task Scheduler. Hope it works. |

Well, not quite. The home page is still up, but "all" lower level pages are not available due to some sort of security issue. [edit to add] The behaviour is really strange - when going to S@H on a tab with another website open I get a "can't open due to security issues" type message, click back to the previous website, then quickly go forward to S@H I get the S@H home page, all menus visible but trying any of the menu items below the top level I get the security warning (e.g. community tab give the drop down list, but clicking on any of the list entries I get the security message). Hmmmmm....... |

Looks like there's something happening worldwide, as many pages are down. Even downdetector is down. The main page is up, but any sub-page you try to check gives either a page 404 or concurrent limit exceeded error. Instagram is down. X.com is very slow. It's not a good day for the internet. |

Some very common 3rd party API under attack? |

Payments with VISA cards in Sweden, also seems to be impossible now. Maybe the same in other countries too. |

Definitely something going on. I saw that FarceBook was also down many places across the globe about 6 to 8 hours ago. Maybe everyone suddenly has World Cup Soccer fever? |

...or all those AI bots trying to see who has won? Just a random thought about "training" AI bots - Feed them a diet of the thoughts posted on various message boards that make absolutely no sense at all. |

X.com is very slow.X.com being slow sounds quite good to me. Down would be even better. |
