Hello all, I run BOINC on about 5+ systems at home. I have a 5mbps down and 384kbps up cable connection. For a week or two I have set an upload speed limit in all of the projects I process for to 5KB/sec so it would interfere less with online gaming. Last night I noticed that SIMAP was uploading near my max up speed which of course temporarily killed my download speeds. This is not the only project that I've seen that has disobeyed my upload speed limits. I am pretty sure I've seen one, if not two more disobey the speed limit. I have had to set all the projects to only use my Internet connection from 1:00 to 17:00. I am running 5.2.13 of the BOINC client. I have checked to make sure that the computers are assigned to the Home or Default profile which have the up speed and network time limits. Is there anything else I can do to enforce the speed limit? I don't think 5KB/sec up would hurt my gaming if the projects would just obey the 5KB/sec limit. Much more than 10KB to 15KB/sec would probably have an impact if I were gaming online (these are FPS games like Q3/UT2004, so it will be noticeable if something's up). |
