Who coughed wrong at the Seti database?

Dunno, but it affects SETI Beta too. Got a 'feeder not running' error at 12:25:47 UTC - too early for regular maintenance, even if it's Jeff's day on the roster.

Collatz Conjecture is down for the time being. I have been unable to communicate with the server. I know the gentleman that heads it up lives in the same metro area as I do and know we just experience some heavy rain and thunderstorms. I don't know where the servers are located, but if the servers are in the same metro area, it could be awhile before they are back online due to the amount of outages in the area.

Collatz has been back up for a couple days now. :)

• NRG (Najmanovich Research Group) is out of disk space on their BOINC server and have been for nearly a week now. It is nearly impossible to even post on their message boards, but it can be logically assumed that they are aware of and working on fixing the issue.

• Donate@Home appears to be in the stages of re-purposing or retiring the project, and are not sending work.

• BitCoin Utopia is out of work, though I am helping the admin(s) out with upgrading/re-configuring their cloud-based BOINC server and resources so that the project can move forward full steam...

• POEM is/was having database issues, and as of now is out of GPU work. CPU work is available, but work in general is sparse and only sporadically available in large enough amounts to constantly feed crunchers. Still awaiting a detailed report from the admins, unless it's all related to their database outage.

• SubSetSum@Home is sending new work in small bursts only, as they test their new application. Tasks must be done with the new application; no older anonymous platform apps will validate WUs!

• ABCLLL@Home is still out of work and no definitive ETA has been provided for their next batch.

• SIMAP has work again - approximately a month's worth, according to their main page.

Well that's what I know.

Have been unable to reach Ibercivis to turn in work for a few days.

7/3/2013 9:07:51 AM | ibercivis | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
7/3/2013 9:07:51 AM | ibercivis | Reporting 1 completed tasks
7/3/2013 9:07:51 AM | ibercivis | Not requesting tasks: don't need
7/3/2013 9:07:53 AM | ibercivis | Scheduler request completed
7/3/2013 9:07:53 AM | ibercivis | Server can't open log file (../log_ibercivis03/scheduler.log)

The completed task is still sitting in the tasks list on the boinc client. It was received on June 20th. It finished late Friday or over the weekend, IIRC. I remember thinking on Monday that, since it was a weekday, maybe they would fix the problem and it would finally go away.

Well it was for a week or so -- went totally offline Friday night or Saturday morning and remains that way at this point.

Collatz has been back up for a couple days now. :)

Found this on Twitter:
"World Community Grid ‏@WCGrid. We are currently offline due to a severe storm in the Toronto, CA area where our servers are hosted."

I note that the WCG Forums have also gone missing. They are hosted separately from the data servers.

The WCG Facebook page has more information, nothing suggesting the webserver is hosted elsewhere. https://www.facebook.com/worldcommunitygrid.org

It's possible this is going to last a bit longer per the local news: http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/toronto-battered-by-storm-flooding-thousands-stranded-1.1358719

Collatz was running for two days -- went vapor again over night. Seems there are power problems (perhaps a bad circuit in the room powering his servers). In any event, I suspect Slicker is less than happy and will be trying to troubleshoot and resolve the underlying reliability issue.

The CPDN Boinc pages and scheduler etc have been down all day, the remaining pages don't say why.

According to my sources, one of the two drives in the RAID that the project runs off of has had a hiccup, causing the RAID to fail. It is now rebuilding. The admins intend to swap both drives, after the first one has settled. Down time can be quite long.

CPDN main project

The problem is with the Climateapps2 server disks. This is causing climate models to be unable to report and the scheduler cannot send new work to computers. The Server Status page is down as well as the CPDN-BOINC forum and other pages.

I expect Climateapps2 to be down all weekend.

Just wanted to say that Collatz Conjecture is still down. Hopefully, the underlying issues to the server problems will be fixed for good. I have no idea when the servers will be back up.

It remains offline -- no change -- temporary home page has been running since Saturday - 'down for maintenance, check back in a few hours' -- but nothing further from Slicker in terms of updates.

I suspect that Slicker is away from home for the week. This being the longest outage I can recall for Collatz, certainly the longest one with no updating information.

I'd note also that Climate remains offline as well.

Despite the fancy new website, CPDN seems to lurch from one crisis to the next.

It amazes me that there is no government or UN support for such an important scientific endeavour. I understand the scientists use these models for reports to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change).

My Boinc stopped communicating with MalariaControl, or vice versa, this morning EST. And I can't raise malariacontrol.net on my browser.

So I slink back to the inky darkness of the General BOINC forums.

Unless it's a strange DNS problem with my new router, restarting it didn't help... Everything else is working ok. Streaming music, wunderground, etc.

Tried two websites that claim to check if "a website is down, or if it's just me." They both said malariacontol.net is Up, probably just down for me. Not sure what to believe now.

Best luck,
-neil-

Hey, Ageless.

I just noticed I can get Malariacontol on my cellphone when I go through the cell-phone system, but not if I try the wifi. So for some reason, my home network (real computers) is not allowing any communications with that domain.

I guess I'll start by bypassing the router. It's a learning opportunity. Sigh.
