Had a problem where the SETI@home project suddenly vanished from the projects tab. Also, the Project and Application columns of the Work tab were blank for all work units, regardless of the project. This happened on two of my computers on April 20th. For a little more information see thread: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=30153 - Bill |

On my BOINC manager, QMC has disappeared from both my project and work tabs. Plus, Predictor doesn't show up on my work tab. The time data does show, just not the project name. Oh, this is with 5.2.13 |

From the Predictor boards: "there's a missing </gui_url> for <name>Abeta news</name> in sched_reply_predictor.scripps.edu.xml that causing display trouble in Boinc Gui for predictor and following project. Of course, problem disappear when changing account_predictor1.scripps.edu.xml and sched_reply_predictor.scripps.edu.xml by adding this missing </gui_url> until next update." (http://predictor.scripps.edu/forum_thread.php?id=2335) It's indeed the cause of the problem, but since those files are fetched each time Predictor has to contact the server, it'll reappear until it's fixed server-side. |

Dr. Anderson submitted this to the mail list: David Anderson to Jorden, BOINC More options 2:23 am (4 hours ago) The reply to a "get projects" GUI RPC (which the BOINC Manager uses to get info about projects) looks like: <project> ... <gui_urls> <gui_url> ... </gui_url> ... </gui_urls> </project> <project> ... When the Manager is parsing a <gui_url> element, it keeps parsing until it finds the matching </gui_url>. If this isn't there (as in the Predictor case) it parses all the way until the end, skipping the remaining projects, so the Manager doesn't know their names. I checked in a slightly kludgy fix: if, while parsing a <gui_url> element, we see </gui_urls>, we break out of the parsing of both <gui_url> and <gui_urls>. Boinc Wiki Sometimes I hate my Bob Newhart style of humor. |
