I am running BOINC 4.43 on a Mac and since August 23 BOINC will not upload files for SETI or ProteinPredictor. In addition I tried to attach a new project - LHC - and it disappears. Now when I go to BOINC, they have no account with my email! What is up?!

As said, you need the accounts per project. Boinc is only the managing program through which you can connect to the various projects. Boinc itself doesn't crunch any data. You cannot attach to the Boinc project... well, not unless you're an Alpha tester.

So if you lost your LHC account, you go to the LHC homepage and ask your registration again (in your account). Same goes for Seti and PPAH. Or if you have problems with the various projects you ask for help on their specific help sites.

The addresses to the various sites can be found on the Boinc homepage: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/

Only post here if you have difficulties with Boinc itself. And then post with messages from the message tab, explanations what you tried, what failed, what went right etc.

I've had the problem with attaching to a project, and then it just disappears. I was off the network at the time. Ultimately, it fixed itself when i got that host back online at the time that I tried to reattach to the project.

Thanks all. SETI and PPAH were both running along nicely and then both stopped uploading. I've tried resetting the projects to no avail. Not being able to attach a new project is just the latest silliness that has been going on since August 23. I've been to the appropriate sites, got no answer; thought someone here might have an idea.

Because we just went through a spell these last couple days, that may be a partial cause. I have also seen where the Mac version seems to get itself into a "state" and the system halts. This appears to be caused by too many failures to contact the servers.

I still see this with 4.72, just this morning in fact. A reboot usually clears this. Though, I cannot be sure this is the case.

If you are still having problems the best I can offer is to look at the log files to see if I can see anything there. Oh, and have you tried a proxy to connect?

If you do want to send me your logs, the TXT and OLD files in the BOINC directory to [email protected]

Once again, thanks to all. A few weeks ago someone suggested using a proxy. I tried this and it didn't work. I went in today and turned off the proxy and now everything is back to normal.

It is obvious that we still do not have this networking thing figured out yet. And I mean not just in the BOINC sense, but in all senses of the concept. Yesterday I spent the better part of the day trying to get my wireless network to work again. Though, at this time, it looks like it is a little more stable than it used to be... only time will tell ...

But, I am glad you are back on the air ...
