I have noticed that I'm unable to attach to any projects at the moment. I am attached to seti@home and can download new work and upload completed work. When I try to attach to a project, i'll recognise a project url and then ask for username and password but after this point it'll try to connect and then fails and tells me it was "unable to attach to project." I have tried to attach to several projects: world community grid, bbc climate change, rosetta@home and predictor@home. Anyone know what the problem might be? |

Have you set up a password at each of the other projects? go to "your account" at each of those projects and "create a password" if not |

Yeah I have indeed created accounts and the projects websites before I've tried to attach to them. |

hmmm, you've input the URL for the new project, selected "use existing account" (instead of create account), input your registered email addy, and the associated password, and still can't attach? |

Yep indeed, tried creating an account aswell. It's odd. At first I though it was that the particular project was down or sth but then tried a few others, and same problem. |

HMMM, I just attached to predictor, it worked. I typed in "http://predictor.scripps.edu" as the URL, my email address, and the password I created at the predictor website. |

Ok it seems for some reason i'm only able to attach to one project. I detached from seti@home and was able to attach to predictor@home so i only had one project running but then tried to attach to seti@home again and it failed. |

Congratulations, I've never heard of this before. It's a very unique issue, so I have nothing with which to base any recommendations on. You should have "Boincmgr.exe" and "Boinc.exe" (and boinc.scr if screensaver is used) listed in your firewall as "internet exceptions". They don't have each project listed seperately, so it shouldn't be a firewall issue. I've tried to look you up in boincstats so I could learn more about your use of boinc. Is this you? and are did you attach to predictor back on March 11th crunch for 4 days (return results on four days, not consecutive days) as this Jody seems to have done. I could find out a little more if this post were on the seti board (number crunching) instead of here. Are you a Windows user? tony |

Thanks for all your help. It seems that although it was saying that it failed to attach to project, it seemed that it was in fact attaching, it would list the project under my projects but I didnt think it was actually properly attached. Quite odd really that it would say failed to attach when it fact it had. Well anyway it now seems that when i attach it's attaching succesfully and not saying "failed to attach." Well, very strange, dont know what was going on. Thanks for all your help again. |
