Hello

I am trying to update my client from version 6.12.34 to version 7.0.25. During the update, the installer attempts to uninstall the previous version - and fails when it can't find the previous MSI.

I have downloaded the 6.12.34 package, and extracted the MSI, but that doesn't seem to satisfy the requirements of the uninstaller.

I am getting a prompt for "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package BOINC.msi in the box below".

The resource was never installed from a network path, and the default source directory that is in the dialogue box is a local path (which should have the MSI that I extracted from the previous version).

I have also tried using the Windows Uninstaller Cleanup utility to no avail - the product remains listed in the Add/Remove Programs window.

I am running Windows 7 x64 Enterprise.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Did you try a reinstall (repair) with the 6.12.34 package?

Does the uninstall option work with the 6.12.34 package?

Gruß,
Gundolf

I have, to no success.

Uninstallation: (running msiexec /x boinc.msi) I get "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed".

Repair: (running msiexec /f boinc.msi, and also msiexec /fa boinc.msi) results in the same message above.

Even though msiexec is telling me the product isn't installed, when I attempt to install it (msiexec /i boinc.msi) I am asked to provide the location of boinc.msi (same dialogue box as described in my first post).

Thanks,

Tim

Hi, I am trying to upgrade to Boinc 7.0.28 for Win 64 from a message link from Boinc, but it is redirected to Panda Cloud Antivirius, is it just me or has it been fiddled with ?

Thanks

Perhaps on your own system that any links should go to that AV. In the mean time, use http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php (and always use that).
