My system is running Gentoo, but I have issues getting BOINC to work.

After starting the daemon and trying to run boincmgr, I only get the following in terminal:
Error: Cannot get the official hostname (error 0: Success)


The GUI just shows "Error" after a few seconds. I get the same issue with both the version in the portage tree (6.12.42) and the upstream version (7.0.25).

I also have a thread running on the Gentoo forums about this, which has more info but I was eventually referred to ask here :P

So, does anyone have a clue about what might be going wrong here?
