I have noticed that if I have BOINC running, my computer freezes. It usually does when I am not there and also seems to be completely random. When I do not have BOINC running, it does not freeze...must be some kind of bug. I wish I could be more descriptive, I am still trying to troubleshoot it. I have version 5.2.13

A system locking up is often indicative of overheating. I would suggest making sure that all the fans are working properly and that there is no accumulation of dust on the heat dissipation fins. A system stress test may also be a good idea.
Since Boinc makes full use of a computers capabilities, it often acts as an early warning system of an eventual component failures.

What I've noticed is that the services running the packets has no problem, but the Boinc Manager software freezes whenever I perform a reboot.

I'm running:

Boince Manager 5.2.13
Windows XP SP2 with all the updates
Pentium 4 3 Ghz
2G Ram

My system isn't running hot or anything like that. I have the internals working just fine as well as the Air Conditioner in the room.

Nothing else on the system freezes like the BOICE Manager.

I ran the standard .exe and told it I wanted it to run as a service.

I am running SpeedFan and keep track of my computer temps. They are definitely not out of the ordinary even when I am running BOINC. So heat isn't a problem :-)

Hello everyone,

I seem to have a total freezing problem too, when running boinc...

I run boinc (5.2.13 in single user mode) on a windows xp sp2 P4 3.0 HT machine... I also have Norton Internet Security 2005, which should be upgraded soon to 2006... I already had a temperature issue, but that was fixed a week ago... Then I thought it was a graphicscard issue, but I switched all the graphics off (screensaver was set to 'off' at windows settings), but the boinc problems still persisted... Then I tried to download and repair boinc again, but still no improvement. Only thing I haven't tried yet, is a complete remove and reinstall of boinc... While repairing the cooling issue, they (at my dealers) told me to get a patch or wait for the next version of boinc...

One thing that was awkward while freezing was that it also disabled USB totally.... Am I looking at another hardware problem or is it still boinc? (maybe stress?!)

Motherboard: Intel D845G(E)BV(2)L Brownsville (HT capable)(2003 I think)

Greetings,

William Senn (Sandeman1967).
