I have a mixed network of Linux and Win2k pcs running boinc, connected by a ethernet hub. I want to monitor their progress from my main computer. I enter the IP address of the networked pc in the boinc-manager 5.2.13 file -> select computer, but it also requests a password. What is the password requireded for ? Where do I set it? If I enter IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.2) without a password I get "Boinc manager is not able to connect to a computer". |

I have a mixed network of Linux and Win2k pcs running boinc, connected by a ethernet hub. The instructions on How To Control BOINC On Remote Computers is found in the Paul. D. Buck's BOINC Wiki. It is the most comprehensive source of information on all things BOINC. Boinc V 7.4.36 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB NVidia 470 |

Can the BOINC Manager client be used to show the results of more than one computer on the network at a time. So far, I can only select 1 at a time. Thanks, Mark C. Barron Edmonton, AB Canada |

I just tried Boincview after your suggestion. It took quite some work to get it runing and everything seemed find. Except that my main computer would freeze up within an hour of boincview starting. Any ideas??? Running: P4 3.06 Ghz w/2G ram WinXP Home w/SP2 and all updates Mark C. Barron Edmonton, AB Canada |

Which ver of Boinc and BoincView are you using? BOINC Wiki |

I am using BOINC ver. 5.2.13 and Boincview ver. 1.2.2 I got boincview up and running, and would step away form my compuyter only to come back and it was frizen. Had to hard reboot it. If Boincview isn't running, then I'm back the the old problem with BOINC freezing on a system reboot. Sigh... Mark C. Barron Edmonton, AB Canada |

So you say it freezes with and without BoincView running, I recommend you check all your fans and give the box a good cleaning and if it still freezes run the following programs to check for stability... Prime95 Torture test Memtest86+ BOINC Wiki |

Not exactly. If Boincview is running, the computer will freeze solid and I have to reboot it. BoincManager alone is the program that freezes when it starts up from a reboot. The system runs find other wise. Thanks, Mark C. Barron Edmonton, AB Canada |

What I did was to just open up another boinc manager, and select another computer with it. At home, I have three PCs running boinc. My "main" PC has three boinc managers running; one for each machine. Works fine until someone reboots one of the other machines. I just select the machine again after the reboot and it reconnects. I haven't tried any third-party stuff. The regular BOINC seems to handle local network machines pretty well. |

I tried the Boincview program, but it didn't show the percentage of unit completed in the view. I'd like to have as few processes running (as if that's likely under Windows ;-) so I'd prefer not to have to run multiple copies of a program. Thanks, Mark C. Barron Edmonton, AB Canada |

I have BoincView beta release: 1.3.0 beta 3, running on my laptop and my P4 3.0 and have no problems, My Boinc client is 5.4.0. As you can see below the last official Boinc client listed as compatible was 5.2.x. If you are running an older Boinc client you may want to upgrade..... You can add and delete columns if you right click on the header. Current version: 1.2.2 - for use with official BOINC client 5.2.x and above Current beta release: 1.3.0 beta 3 - fully functional with BOINC clients 5.2.x and above BOINC Wiki |
