Hi, Did a search for "disk space" but couldn't find anything so apologies if this has been covered. Have been running BOINC since 2010, mostly on Malaria, now using version 6.12.33 64bit on Ubuntu. Recently I have received no tasks but have been getting messages stating a task needs more disk space: "A simulator of malaria epidemology needs 429.15MB more disk space. You currently have 0.00MB available and it needs 429.15MB" My computer boots from a 60gb SSD with 45gb free and has another 2TB hard disk with 800+ gb free. I have the standard preference settings: Use at most 100gb Leave at least 10gb Use at most 50% Task Checkpoint 60 secs Use at most 75% page file When I look at disk usage it says Used by BOINC 128.82mb Free 110.74 mb Used by other programs 14.53 Which disk does BOINC use and how do I give BOINC more disk space? regards |

Used by other programs 14.53 If those 14.53 are gigabytes, I'd suspect it's the SSD drive, but I can't tell why BOINC sees only 110 MB free, unless you haven't listed the local preferences but the online ones. Please check your local preferences and set reasonable values or clear them altogether. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) ![]() |

Hi Gundolf, thanks for the prompt response. Yes the 14.53 is 14.53 GB, why I omitted that I have no idea. I listed the local preferences, if they are the ones from BOINC manager. Sorry to be a pain but do have any idea what I should set the local preferences to (the reasonable values), or what the effect of clearing them, which I assume is by pressing the "clear" button in computing preferences in BOINC manager. tia jsa |

Sorry to be a pain but do have any idea what I should set the local preferences to (the reasonable values)... The values you posted seem reasonable, that's why I assumed your local preferences being other ones. or what the effect of clearing them, which I assume is by pressing the "clear" button in computing preferences in BOINC manager. Yes, by pressing the "clear" button, you revert your sytem back to the online preferences, since the local preferences override the online ones. If the local values don't explain the shown "Free 110.74 mb", just try some other preferences, e.g. "Leave at least 100mb" and "Use at most 90%". Gruß, Gundolf |
