Updated several programs over the weekend, i.e., CPU-Z, PC Wizard etc & each had installed the Ask toolbar.

Found this very difficult to uninstall until I ran CCleaner which removed all aspects of Ask.

However, since then, boinc manager has been problematic in that every time I click on stats or disk tabs, it closes BM down.

Have tried repairing, uninstalling & reinstalling, but getting same issue. running 6.12.34 on win 7 32 bit.

Anyone else experienced this & did they resolve it?

I hate those Ask.com installers, some will even still install Ask.com after you unchecked all of the options, or thought you did. And then there's one installer out there that will install Ask.com after you unchecked all boxes, as only then do you acknowledge that you wanted to install the crap...

Anyway, your problem. What does stderrgui.txt have to say about your BM closing on you? Anything in there?

All I see are many of these.....

19:16:21 (9120): fullscreen mode requested.
Successfully loaded './Helvetica.txf'...
Successfully loaded 'boinc_logo_black.jpg'.
19:18:04 (9120): Close event (mouse move) detected, shutting down.
19:18:04 (9120): Shutting down graphics application.
20:21:16 (3644): Starting graphics application.
20:21:16 (3644): fullscreen mode requested.
Successfully loaded './Helvetica.txf'...
Successfully loaded 'boinc_logo_black.jpg'.

At 1st, thought that shutting down was down to the screensaver, however, on todays listings, with screensaver running, there is no mention of shutting down.

Coincidence then? Gremlins? Ghosts in the machine?
Anything seen in Windows Event Viewer around the time your BM went haywire?

Couldn't see anything related to BM's mishaps, so ran CCleaner again. It found a few ask files & deleted them. Cleaned up the registry & rebooted. Re-ran the boinc installer, checked repair & restarted BM.

All seems to be ok now. On researching this issue, found many are experiencing similar problems with ask toolbar on Win 7, especially 64bit.

Very surprised that IAC hasn't sorted this problem. Think they need to get their programmers retrained & have them provide an un-installer that exactly works!

Edit. Also while researching, numerous programs were mentioned that removes ASK. Practically all of them do not completely remove it. So far, I've found CCleaner does the job best for now.
