I can't game as much anymore 2yo keeps ya pretty busy. So I figured I'd make good use of my comp by running boinc when not gaming.
I have an i5-2500 on an intel dh67bl. It's running 16 gigs of ddr3 1333, maybe a lil overkill but it was a really good deal. GPU is a 6870 1 gig and I run 2 500gb drives raid-0. OS is win7hp.
I've been running collatz for about a month but that was on an old computer same video card though, I'd like to run more but I'd like to figure out what projects my computer will run best and how to set it up to run it's best. Not sure how tried searching the forums but nothing came up, this has to be a common question anyone have a link to a thread or good site to help optimize?

I have been running BOINC for a while and I notice if I leave my PC with it running after a while it opens a window in the task bar. Why is it doing this please ? Fine if I detect on the icon then great but if I don't why is it happening please ?

I use Windows XP Professional.

Have I ticked the wrong box on installetion ?
