Alright, I've installed BOINC 3.12.34(x64) in a win7(x64) machine with a ASUS MB and AMD Phenom x6 CPU; The installing user 'admin' is a administrative user.
I wanted the other (non-admin) users 'usr1','usr2' to be able to at least monitor the current jobs on the boinc-manager.

Of course, working with the 'admin' user allows all functionality and everything works fine. But entering as a normal user gives me "Connection Error. You currently are not authorized to manage the client." in the boinc-manager.

(1)If in the manager I go to Advanced - Select Computer, Host name: "localhost" Password: "***(the password in C:\ProgramData\BOINC\gui_rpc_auth.cfg)" the manager gives me again "Connection Error. You currently are not auth. to manage the client. blablabla 'boinc_users' localgroup".

So I make 'lusrmgr.msc' and add the 2 users ('usr1', 'usr2') to the group. Log off the user, reenter with it, and BAM same error "add to 'boinc_users' localgroup." What gives??

Adding 'usr1' to 'boinc_admins' localgroup does correct the situation (connection to localhost is made, client is manageable) but I don't want a normal user to have full control (add, remove projects, etc...), because well, they're 'normal' (l)users.

If I change the password in gui_rpc_auth.cfg to something simple the connection error "The password you've provided is incorrect." appears if I enter the system with a normal user. If I do (1) and enter the new password I get the "add to 'boinc_users'" error.

I've also checked if boinc.exe is running, in admin and nonadmin users, and it indeed is...
Firewall ports are open for boinc and boincmgr ...

Requesting advice, over... T_T

Did you already try a repair install of the same BOINC version?

Repairing the installation did nothing.

So I did a full reinstall to C:\BOINC and C:\BOINCDATA.
Same problem occurs (non admin user gets 'add to boinc_users' connection error), but something told me it could be permissions for the BOINCDATA folder:

So, we have the permissions for 'boinc_users' in BOINCDATA being 'Read and execute, List folder contents, Read'. I enter as a member of 'boinc_users', usr1, and navigate to BOINCDATA. "You can't view content of this folder."(the hell???).

Return to the admin user and give full control of BOINCDATA to 'boinc_users', enter as usr1 and boincmgr works, can erase projects and everything. But in that case, what's the point, I'd rather add the user to 'boinc_admins'.

So I give again the default permissions to boinc_users ('Read and execute, List folder contents, Read'), and now the manager WORKS??? (******* ****!!!)
Connection to localhost does not send Connection Error, tasks and projects are manageable, and unfortunately projects can still be deleted... (is that supposed to happen???).

Correct me if I am wrong, but should not only users in boinc_admin be able to add and remove projects while boinc_users only able to pause processes and not edit config options?
