I ran a couple searches trying to find information about this issue and didn't find anything so apologies if this is a known issue. I'm running 6.12.35 on a Mac Pro 2x2.26 Quad-Core Xeon. After several days of functioning the BOINCManager seems to break (it's still taking about 80% of a cpu but says application isn't responding) and there are no active tasks (an no tasks of any type listed in the task window). When I quit BOINCManager the app seems to close but the process continues to run as show in the activity manager using about 80% of a processor. Restarting BOINCManager gets things working again. Any ideas about why this would happen? Do you think that 7.0.8 might fix this issue. |

I've been running Mac 7.0.8 since my post about 6.12.35 breaking. 7.0.8 doesn't break in the same way -- it runs and continues to process units. However, it won't upload the results automatically. I have to manually select the project and make it connect to upload results. Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening or what I should change in the settings? (which I think are set to default) |

Difficult to answer without knowing: 1. which project you're talking about. 2. what your "network activity" preference is set to. 3. what your "network allowed" preference is set to. But, that said, Boinc 7.0.8 is quite an old version. We're up to 7.0.14 with testing, with 7.0.15 rapidly on its way. You may want to upgrade first. Links are in the change log thread. |

I run Seti@Home, Rosetta@Home, and MilkyWay@Home. I'll install 7.0.14 and see how it works. Uninstalling 7.0.8 and removing the prefs and data files and reinstalling 6.12.35 seemed to get things to work automatically again. Are "network activity" pref and "network allowed" pref the BOINC preference settings or MacOS preference settings? |
