Is there any possibility to insert a "Minimum write interval to Hdd " feature?
I am asking this because my computer sits in my room where I sleep and it is open 24 hours/day and the sound made by the hard drive has become intolerable.
I would love this feature... that forbids the application to write unsaved data to the hard drive if the last write was before x min.
It should have an input value that accepts numbers from 0 to 10.
0 minutes means that the application is behaving exactly like it is now.. ( saving data every 1-2 seconds), 1 meaning that the next save to the hard drive is in 1 minute intervals.
I don't want to turn off Boinc over the night because 1. I might forget to open it in the morning and 2. because it is a waste of 8 hours of computer power.
In order for you to see how annoying it is, I recorded in process explorer ( sysinternals) the activity of my 8 boinc threads.
Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pdz5bYx8UfQ&feature=youtu.be and notice the I/O Delta writes column on the left 1,2 or even 3 processes are writing at the same time, making my hdd noisy.

So please tell me if you can implement this.

Thank you,

Hi,
As you well stated the option is named "Tasks Checkpoint At Most"
It doesn't forbid the program to write as fast as it wants it only tells it not to write to disk later then x minutes.

This is not the option I was looking for.

As for the other part, I have an irregular sleep program and I don't want to set a new interval everyday I go to sleep. I like boinc to work transparently for me.
If I manually turn it of over the night... I usually forget to open it in the morning so that's not a good thing.

Please watch the movie I made to see how often boinc is writing to disk
