Hello,

I setup my BOINC server with BOINC VM image. I adjusted it to use internet. I can ping the BOINC VM server, I setup server program also start the BOINC server executable program. I open my BOINC client program, I enter the server address as http://192.168.2.5/test/ as my local BOINC server. But there is a connection error.
What can be the cause of this problem?

Thank you.

http://192.168.2.5/test/

That's not an internet address, but a local network address. As far as I know, you can't use the local IP address with a text behind it. A port, yes, but not a sub-address.

So you'll have to use the internet address, or give the domain a name.

I think a local network address of that form is allowable (in general networking terms - not saying anything specific about BOINC here) - I often see addresses like that when using a browser to configure routers.

But seyfullah - are you sure you're using the IP address of the virtual network adapter in the VM, not of the server itself?

Ageless,
http://192.168.2.5/test/, is my local web address, works in my IE. I can see BOINC server web pages working. I can login this web page.
I can add this BOINC project using with BOINC manager, but I cannot login in BOINC manager. In logs there are errors like :
02.12.2011 00:06:54 | | Fetching configuration file from http://192.168.2.5/test/get_project_config.php
02.12.2011 00:07:22 | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
02.12.2011 00:07:23 | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

I opened C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc folder, opened hosts file added a line as 192.168.2.5 server.mydebian.com. Then I could open http://server.mydebian.com/test/ in my IE. It didn't work again.

Richard,
192.168.2.5 is the server IP address.
192.168.163.1 is VMware Network Adapter VMnet1 IP address.
192.168.134.1 is VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 IP address.

Do I have to deploy this VM in a datacenter, or can I give a different IP address to it?

Hi, really thanks for this forum, but I have the same problem, and can't fix it, anyone can help? I can't connect to server with same steps as shown above. And got the same error, going to try without BOINC Manager but only with Client.

If anybody can fix it, please show me how!

Thanks, albru123
