Kinda new to BOINC so I have some basic questions. (I checked the forum posts, but did not see my subject). My system has 512GB of ram (gigabytes not megabytes) and 16 CPU cores, but my selection to use at least 75% of the system memory seems to have no effect on the actual usage. It still only uses about 5GB no matter what Does having a large memory config offer any significant benefits? Also, I have two NVidia Tesla M2075 cards, is there anything special to access both GPUs or just use the checkbox to use the GPU? Thanks in advance...[/i] |

Does it mean BOINC, i.e. the project(s) running, will use all of the 512GB at times? I wonder whether there are that much resource demanding projects! I'm pretty new so don't laugh if it's a silly question lol |

Looked at the OP before and wondered myself what the expectation was. Very serious hardware, but BOINC will not use more than the max of what each science needs. At the very least it sounds like 24/7 hardware, so unless this is business hardware where one can not go and fiddle as were it a private toy, I'd surely be setting up a RAMDisk to eliminate the disk I/O for the most part. That would be a machine to dedicate to the Clean Energy Project, Phase II over at WCG. The models go to near 2GB at times (RAM+VM), each. -- SekeRob |
