Hi All, I've got BOINC setup to compute based on my preferences, using the following: Desktop PC (ergo, no batteries) Win 7 x64 Core i7 (4 phyiscal cores) with hyperthreading enabled (8 virtual cores). BOINC 6.12.33 x64 My aim is to have BOINC compute all the time (even when mouse/keyboard is in use) with only one exception; if processor load from another application exceeds a certain threshold. With that in mind I have set up my prefs as below. Computing Allowed: While computer is on batteries - Ticked While computer is in use - Unticked Use GPU while computer is in use - Unticked Only after computer has been idle for - 0.00 mintues While processor usage is less than - 50 percent The problem is as soon as I type, BOINC suspends processing. So I tried the following: Computing Allowed: While computer is on batteries - Ticked While computer is in use - Ticked Use GPU while computer is in use - Ticked Only after computer has been idle for - 0.00 mintues While processor usage is less than - 50 percent This didn't work either as BOINC runs irrespective of external processor load. What arrangment of options do I need to make external processor load the only factor that determines if BOINC is computing or not? Thanks for your help. |

What arrangment of options do I need to make external processor load the only factor that determines if BOINC is computing or not? You already have it. Your second (current) scenario should work as you desire. Perhaps (just for testing purposes) you should decrease the value for "While processor usage is less than" to the default value of 25% (or even lower). Additionally, you have to take into account that BOINC needs several seconds (about 10?) to react to the external load. Gruß, Gundolf PS: Why have you been surprised that BOINC suspends processing, as soon as you type, when you explicitely set "Computing Allowed: While computer is in use - Unticked"? ;-) Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. Yep the second configuration has worked, it must have just been taking to long to respond when i checked it the first time around, either that or I was being impatient! :-) Cheers |
