Currently, I keep receiving an 'Visual C++ Runtime Library' error message. The message says 'Runtime Error - Program C:\ProgramData\BONIC\Projects....'. I could send a Screen Dump of this message to anybody interested. Any idea what the problem is? John F. |

This is one of the science applications crashing, but I haven't a clue which one. You should be able to find that out by looking in BOINC Manager. And then you'll have to complain on the forums of that project about their app crashing with that error. By the way, it's BOINC, not BONIC. Your BOINC Data directory lives at C:\ProgramData\BOINC\, not C:\ProgramData\BONIC\ BOINC stands for Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing. |

Actually, I haven't an area called C:\ProgramData\BOINC\, which seems a bit strange - perhaps the system is giving an error message, due to it not finding it. John F. |

Thanks, currently at work, but tried having the Event Open, before the message appeared, when it did, nothing apparent in the Event Log, but will do some more checking. John F. |

Thanks, I am using BOINC V.6.12.33. I have clicked on 'Show Hidden Files & Folders' and can see all the files. I now have the BOINC's 'Event Log' open and have seen this error message re-appear, unfortunately, there is nothing in the 'Event Log' to tell me what the problem is. Perhaps 'C:\ProgramData\BOINC\Projects....' needs to be a bit more expanded in BOINC's next Build, to at least identify the project. John F. |

It's not a BOINC error. If anything, it's a Microsoft error, since Visual C++ is their stuff. But even then, it is one of the science applications that's giving this error. Which projects are you attach to? Which projects have running tasks when you see this error? What if you make BOINC use only 1 CPU (core) and you go switch between tasks? Which project then has that error? You will have to complain at that project's forums about this error. It's nothing we can do about it. Sorry. (Even though it sounds like it's missing a DLL file). |

Thanks, I am using - (1) Rosetta, (2) Climateprediction, (3) Einstein, (4) LHC, (5) Milkyway, (6) Orbit, (7) SETI, (8) Cosmology - all of which are running. So, I will have to suspend each one in turn and see which one is causing the problem - I'll let you know. John F. |

Thanks, On the off chance it saves time, why not look at the task lists for the host in question, at each of those project web sites? Most, if not all, will allow you to apply an 'error' filter to the list - any project with a non-zero recent error count stays on your short-list. |

Unfortunately, using the 'Suspend' button has brought up some more problems. Clicking on this button for each of the projects brings up the message 'Project suspended by User' and the button changes to 'Resume' - ok. Re-clicking on this button, the button changes to 'Suspend' and some projects change to another message, say 'Suspended - Computer is in Use' or 'Running', but some projects stay as 'Project suspended by user' - why is this? I have looked at the BOINC Help Manager page, but I can't see why the message stays as 'Project suspended by user'. Any ideas? John F. |

Are you sure you selected all the projects that you suspended when you went to resume them? Not selecting all of them is the only way that some stayed as Project suspended by user. |

Ok, I selected all the projects together and pressed the 'Suspend' button and all were marked 'Project suspended by user'. Selecting all together again and pressing the (now) 'Resume' button, left some still marked as 'Project suspended by user'. I could send a screen-shot of this problem, if someone could tell me how to, as there is nothing in this thread about sending attachments. John F. |

These forums don't support attachments. If you want to add screen shots, you have to use external sites such as Photobucket or Imageshack. Watch out with posting the thumbnails, they usually don't translate to larger pictures. |

Ok, try this link - http://www.vetts.org.uk/boinc1.jpg Any idea why it still says 'Project suspended by user'? John F. |

Ok, try this link - Make sure you're in the right tab, you can suspend individual tasks in the tasks tab, the whole project can also be suspended in the project tab, (Your picture shows you're selected multiple tasks in the task tab, some of those tasks are suspended individually, while some of the tasks are suspended because the project is suspended) Claggy |

Ok, selecting one single item, say 'climaticprediction.net' - If you look at boinc2.jpg and boinc3.jpg on this link - http://www.vetts.org.uk/boinc2.jpg you will see that I have selected 'climaticprediction.net'. But it doesn't matter whether I have select 'suspend' or 'resume', it still stays as 'project suspended by user' - any idea why? John F. |

Yes,as Claggy said, make sure you;'re in the correct tab. You are now in the TASKS tab, so any tasks you select there and suspend, will suspend them individually. You however suspended these tasks through the PROJECTS tab. Go there, select the projects you suspended and click the resume button. If need be one by one. |

Unfortunately, I spoke too soon, as I seem to have all these messages displayed - 'Suspended - User Request' and I can't get back to 'Running' - any ideas? (And the Screen Saver shows 'No Running Tasks') http://www.vetts.org.uk/boinc4.jpg John F. |

This is either done by: - Snooze: right click the BOINC Manager icon in the system tray, is there a checkmark before Snooze? If so, click it to uncheck Snooze. - Activity menu: what is the setting for CPU? If Suspend, put it back to "Run based on preferences". |
