Hi,
I am participating in BOINC DC program. BBC-CP and CPDN are huge models and require many days to complete. To avoide problems I take back up every 6 Hrs. 4 times a day in to alternating directories, (just in case!).

Even with 8 pressed to know check point and Exiting after the check point is created some times i loose TS/s. Can this be aovided.

Please forgive me if my suggession is foolish, why BOINC Manager cannot write to disc when we click on Exit. I think it is a small modification to the code.

I have set save every 2 minutes in Preference. Does that solve the problem?

It's not BOINC that writes to disk or checkpoints. It's the science application, thus in your case the BBC application that does the checkpointing. Hence you shouldn't ask of BOINC to write to disk when exiting, but of the science application to do so. (in other words, ask on the CPDN forums)

It appears the timestep countdown shown on the graphical screen when you hit 8 goes in cycles of 48 time steps, but the actual save takes place every 144 timesteps. The problem is when will it really save next?
I have written a small program which will tell you which timestep the next save will occur. If you wait until then and then exit, you will lose nothing. If interested, let me know.

I had just started and BOINC had crashed, I posted here a question.
For some application issues, we may be ignorent at the time and ask for help from wrong people, assuming they are like minded people.
