Hi, I have just installed Boinc 6.12.33 "over the top" of the previous version using the Berkeley install package. Unfortunately, neither the client nor the manager will now start from the command line and instead report missing libraries. The manager reports: tim@linux-54vj:~> cd ./BOINC tim@linux-54vj:~/BOINC> ./run_manager ./boincmgr: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk2u_richtext-2.8.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. The client reports a series of missing files: tim@linux-54vj:~/BOINC> ./run_client --daemon ./boinc: /usr/lib/libssl.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by ./boinc) ./boinc: /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8: no version information available (required by ./boinc) ./boinc: /usr/lib/libcurl.so.4: no version information available (required by ./boinc) I'm afraid I'm not a sophisticated user of Linux. Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get Boinc working again? Thanks Tim |

./boincmgr: error while loading shared libraries: libwx_gtk2u_richtext-2.8.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory. It looks like you need the following packages - wxwidgets 2.8.91 (http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/3/srodzaj/1/search/libwx_gtk2u_richtext-2.8.so.0) libopenssl 0.9.8 (http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/3/srodzaj/1/search/libssl.so.0.9.8()(64bit)) and libcurl 4 (http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/3/limit/3/srodzaj/1/dl/40/search/libcurl.so.4/field%5B%5D/1/field%5B%5D/2) I don't use opensuse so I can't be anymore help than that, you'll have to refer to the opensuse documentation/forums for assistance on how to use your package manager if no one else on these forums can help you. Rom knows about this and will try to get a build VM that will not break things for other distros (notably Fedora and OpenSUSE). Right now he's using a Ubuntu LTS VM. I don't any more than that. Kathryn :o) |
