OS: Win 7 Pro 64-bit SP1 Motherboard: MSI 890FSA-GD570 Processor: Athlon Phenom II X4 64 975 3.6 Ghz Video Card: Nvidia 570 chipset MSI 570GTX Hard disk: Raptor 9600 RPS 2TB BOINC: 6.12.26 x64 Attached Projects: Rosetta, SETI BOINC refuses to connect reporting error 417. I have no firewall active, and new ISP here on Kandahar Air Force Base. Unsure if new ISP is blocking this, but it is supposed to be completely unrestricted. What might be causing this? If it's the ISP blocking BOINC, what should I request their techs do to fix this? Thanks, -Mel |

Did you try an advanced forum search for "error 417" (for at least six months in the past)? I found Message 35953: error 417 has been asked about often here. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) ![]() |

Well here lies the problem, I followed that thread's advice, but for some reason I cannot find the cc_config.xml file in my c:\programdata\BOINC directory. It's not there. Yet when I run the manager and tell it to read it it responds with: 5/19/2011 2:35:26 PM | | Re-reading cc_config.xml 5/19/2011 2:35:26 PM | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task So I know it has to be somewhere. Where is it then if it's not in C:\programdata\Boinc? |

It's not there by default. If it doesn't exist, you'll have to create it (with notepad). The BOINC manager message is misleading: it only tries to read it; if it's not found, the (listed) defaults are used. See also Client configuration in the BOINC wiki. Gruß, Gundolf |
