I cannot start Boinc Manager 6.12.22 in Fedora 15 (also in Fedora 14) due to library incompatibility: $ ./run_manager ./boincmgr: error while loading shared libraries: libnotify.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory # ln -s /usr/lib64/libnotify.so.4 /usr/lib64/libnotify.so.1 $ ./run_manager ./boincmgr: Symbol `_ZTV12wxBufferedDC' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking ./boincmgr: Symbol `_ZTV10wxClientDC' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking ./boincmgr: Symbol `_ZTV10wxMemoryDC' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking ./boincmgr: Symbol `_ZTV17wxBufferedPaintDC' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking Fatal Error: Mismatch between the program and library build versions detected. The library used 2.8 (no debug,Unicode, compiler with C++ ABI 1002,wx containers, compatible with 2.4,compatible with 2.6), and your program used 2.8 (no debug,Unicode, compiler with C++ ABI 1002,wx containers, compatible with 2.6). Annullato (core dumped) Any hint? |

OK, the developer peeked in already and said that it looks like your distro maintainers for wxWidgets built with different options between Ubuntu and Fedora which broke the possibility for BOINC to work. You'll have to take this up with the package maintainers. The only way Berkeley can fix this is if they go build separate versions, for Fedora and all other Linux distros. That'll never happen. |

Thanks, I will ping the package mainteiners... it will become an issue as soon as Boinc 6.12.x will go stable. |
