I know about the options in prefs to set the allowed amount of CPUs, I know about setting affinity in task mgr/process explorer etc... what I don't know is how do I assign both my actual core and virtual (HT) core to a single SETI WU? P4 650 3.4/800/2M L2 @ 230*17. |

You can assign CPU affinity with the truXoft calibrating client. It will assign each WU to a single (logical) CPU but it assigns the CPU affinity at random to whichever CPU is free and not running another Boinc app. You don't have to use the calibrating feature if you don't want it or feel it is somehow improper. I have use the truXoft client both ways (affinity on and off) on a 3.2P4PrescottHT and I don't think it makes any big difference. I think it's really only useful for dual core processors. |
